Method one - fine-tuning:

  • adjustment and grinding of the exhaust and intake manifold;
  • lightening and adjusting the weight of all pistons, connecting rods and crankshaft;
  • refinement of the ignition system and engine power supply.

Method two - carburetor tuning:

  • We remove the vacuum drive spring in the throttle valve of the primary chamber. Due to this, the dynamics of the "six" will increase, but at the same time, gasoline consumption will increase by 0.5 liters;
  • We replace it with a mechanical vacuum actuator of the throttle valve in the primary chamber. You can use the spring that we removed from the vacuum drive. Due to this, the car will accelerate smoothly and improve dynamics. In this case, fuel consumption will not increase;
  • replace the primary diffuser chamber marked 4.5 instead of 3.5. And at the same time replace for acceleration with a larger (30 to 40) pump sprayer. Fuel consumption will remain the same;

It should also be noted that major tuning of the VAZ 2106 engine can significantly change the behavior of a car on the road, and often to the detriment of safety.

Tuning suspension VAZ 2106

For sports driving, the factory suspension of the “six” is not suitable due to excessive softness. The same can be said about almost all VAZs, which will not even be an exception, which also requires serious work on the suspension.

  • improve the front brakes. The kit from the VAZ 2112 is best suited for this, which perfectly replaces the old front brakes;
  • installation of a complete set of disc brakes.

This will require VAZ 2112 calipers, but tuned studios prefer to install ATE 520142 Power Disk. The latter have ellipsoid grooves on the surface and are called ventilated due to this. Such a kit without modifying the hub is ideal for the VAZ 2106.

To replace the rear brakes with modern disc brakes, it is better to contact a professional car service. To do this, you need machine equipment and special tools.

Tuning and refinement of the VAZ 2106 clutch

After the first three stages, we proceed to finalize the VAZ 2106 clutch. This mechanism is designed to smoothly connect the transmission to the crankshaft of the car during movement and gear shifting.

It is necessary to check the clutch pedal travel so that it is not more than 120-130 mm, otherwise you will have to adjust. But often the driven disk may require replacement due to poor clutch condition, which negatively affects the smoothness and start of the VAZ 2106.

If we compare the “seven” with an apartment in a new building, then we can imagine that we bought a house with bare walls in a not very high-quality house. Theoretically, you can live in such an apartment, but you will always be haunted by the feeling that you are some kind of beggar.

Demanding owners begin the process of evolution of the "seven" with tuning the heart of the car - the engine. The first to be replaced are the carburetor, valve, candles. Additionally, a lambda probe and can be installed. Very often, owners resort to increasing the volume of cylinders.

Speaking of customizing the interior of the "seven" - then the car designers did their best. Without regret, almost the entire interior can be safely redone: reupholstery of armchairs and sofas, installation of power windows, modernization of the stove (left pipe), study of sound insulation. Next, we move on to choosing and buying any small things like pockets and coasters that are attached to the dashboard of a car. One of the main problems of the “seven” interior is the terrible ergonomics of space, because often there is simply no room for any small things. Thanks to such supplies, it is possible to greatly improve the ergonomics of the interior space of the car.

Further changes should affect the rear-view mirror. We recommend changing it to a larger size by installing it on your own. Sun visors should also be replaced. Here the problem of choice arises: buy regular ones, but covered with carpet, or look at tuning ones. Let's make the "seven" ride faster. The easiest way to improve the dynamics of such a car is to tinker with the carburetor. At the start, under the hood we have: an engine of 1500 or 1600 cubic centimeters, an Ozone carburetor and a contact ignition system.

Every ordinary motorist who understands at least a little bit in technology can “shamanize” with a carburetor. Let's get started!

  1. First you need to remove the spring from the vacuum actuator of the throttle valve of the primary chamber. After spending 5 minutes, we get a certain increase in acceleration dynamics, while gasoline consumption increases by a maximum of half a liter.
  2. We change the throttle actuator on the secondary chamber. To do this, using a small piece of wire at one end, we bend the ring so that it can be slipped under the nut securing the throttle actuator lever. Then we tighten the nut harder, but without fanaticism. Such manipulations will increase the dynamics at high engine speeds and in no way affect fuel consumption.
  3. Then we throw out a small diffuser from the primary chamber marked 3.5. Instead, we install a diffuser with the number 4.5. And also, if necessary, it is worth replacing the default atomizer of the accelerator pump "30" with the "40" one. So you can achieve an improvement in speed at the start.
  4. Now let's move on to the classic methods of adjusting carburetors - increasing the jets. In the primary chamber, we take the fuel jet 112, and the air jet - 150. Again we get an increase in acceleration.

Let's move on to the secondary chamber. Here we take the main fuel jet marked 162, and the air jet - 190. Jets with such markings are the maximum that exist on Weber carburetors. Due to the identical diameter of the diffuser to the secondary chamber on the carburetors from Ozon and Webers, they can be safely considered universal. At the same time, drivers very rarely open the damper from the primary chamber, even after tuning the carburetor.

In city traffic, there is little when it becomes necessary to press the accelerator pedal by half. When overtaking or a sharp increase in speed is necessary, our manipulations with the secondary camera will come in handy. In fact, with the gas pedal, we keep only the secondary chamber open and activate the turbo. Thanks to this, the engine is rapidly gaining momentum in the region of 6500.

If, after such manipulations with the carburetor, you want to make the “seven” even faster, then we return to the primary chamber. If the engine in the car is from 1500 cubic meters, then the main fuel jet is set to 130, and for engines of 1600 cubic meters and above - 135. The main air jet is 170. It makes no sense to torture the carburetor further on this, because an increase in jets will only lead to transfusion and flooding of the carburetor .

After reworking the carburetor, everyone will be interested in gas mileage. If you don’t compete at traffic lights with people in cool cars (and the acceleration dynamics allows us to surprise your opponent), then you should focus on about 11 liters per 100 km when driving around the city. Since we did not deal with idle adjustment (this is not necessary on Ozone carburetors, because there is an autonomous adjustment system), the consumption will also be in the region of 11 liters per 100 km. Thanks to our tricks with the carburetor, you can feel more confident when starting abruptly, overtaking or moving through the mud.

Personal experience has shown that with a successfully set ignition, a distributor with a vacuum machine (the hose is connected to the manifold where the EPHX system once stood) and jets with a combination of 135/172 and 162/190, the car just comes to life. Experienced owners of the "sevens" say that the Weber carburetor of the first issues was the most successful. It was not only the simplest and most reliable, but also made it possible to adjust the optimal acceleration dynamics. The problem with such carburetors is that at speeds above 2000, CO emissions are much higher than normal.

A very important note when setting up a carburetor. There is simply no universal set of jets. Everything is very individual, and we have given only the data of a certain average experience. What does it all depend on the state of destruction and the volume of the engine, the type of carburetor and the jets themselves. It is worth knowing that jets, even from the same batch and the same marking, may, at least not much, but differ. Even standard jets from DAAZ sin with this.

And also we do not recommend putting "Solex". Yes, the acceleration dynamics on them is better than on Ozone. But if you correctly set up "Ozone" or "Weber", then the car will be no less frisky, while you can save a lot. The main problem of Solex carburetors is unreliability and flaws in work (failures or jerks), which are quite difficult to fix. And also the owners often complain about the cover, which is unscrewed all the time, and the solenoid valve that is unstable. Now compare these problems with Ozone or Weber, which need to be adjusted no more than once a year.

Further, according to its logical alternation, the motor is tuned. Yes, you can replace the pistons, connecting rods and crankshaft with lightweight ones, perfectly grind and fit the intake and exhaust manifolds, balance and upgrade the fuel system, change the gear ratio of the gearbox and improve the chassis, and so on ad infinitum. But doing it all at home and with your own hands is very difficult. First, you need to have very precise and expensive equipment. Secondly, you need to have remarkable experience and be highly qualified. And also for these alterations you need to spend a solid amount. Let's be honest, the owners of the VAZ 2107 are not millionaires, not everyone can afford such engine tuning. Therefore, limiting the carburetor setting is probably the golden mean.

If, after all the manipulations with the carburetor, you still do not have enough power, then you should move on to pumping the “seven” engine. As a result, we can get a very solid increase in power, it would be foolish of us not to take advantage of this.

In the case of fine-tuning the native engine to mind, eliminating all the "roughness", you can get a very powerful unit, with a high degree of reliability and a large power reserve. Owners who decide to tune the engine should be aware that it is not always possible to get an increase in power as a result. Very often, motor tuning is a process of fine-tuning the unit to your own taste. Therefore, before starting tuning, we recommend asking yourself what you want to get as a result.

There are two stages of tuning the VAZ 2107 engine:

  • Finalization of the cylinder head, carburetor, exhaust manifold, installation of a zero filter, increase in the diameter of the exhaust manifold, installation of a turbocharger, increase in cylinders, piston balancing, crankshaft. All this promises an increase in the overall engine power.
  • Camshaft selection, valve timing adjustment, engine fine tuning. And here we find ourselves at a crossroads: to go by choosing power at low revs, or at high revs.

The second stage is the end point of customizing the VAZ 2107 engine. At the same time, the first stage is still repair work, and the second is pure tuning.

Another way to change the engine of the "seven" is to completely replace it with an engine with more power. There are cases when an engine 21213t was bought in place of the stock motor, the working volume of which is 1800 cubic meters. The new engine had a used cylinder block, crankshaft, connecting rods and head. Additionally, improved pistons, rings and liners were installed, and the cylinder block was re-honed. The crankshaft went through additional balancing assembly with the clutch, and the pistons were coated with molybdenum grease.

  • The combustion chambers, inlet and outlet channels are processed, bronze valve guides and lightweight T-shaped valves are installed.
  • The STI sports camshaft was installed in the cylinder head.
  • Installed carburetor DAAZ 24/26.
  • Built-in non-contact ignition system.
  • Customization of the dashboard in the "seven"

Compared to foreign cars, the dashboard of which glows with all the colors of the rainbow, the tidy on the VAZ 2107 looks very ascetic. Not only does it look ugly, but it is also very difficult to read something on it when driving at night at speed. That is, instead of following the road, you have to squint at the speedometer, and this is already unsafe. And on foreign cars there is no such problem! In general, it makes sense to remake the dashboard of the VAZ "seven" in the style of foreign cars. Let's try to tell you the real experience of such reconfiguration. So let's get started.

First, let's define the list of materials:

  • multi-colored LEDs;
  • instrument scales (they bought new ones at a car dealership at a very favorable price);
  • the arrows were taken from the Peugeot 405. But then I had to cut out as many as two tidy from the Peugeot, since the Frenchman has two long arrows and three short ones.
  • hand tools and a set of young radio technicians.

When everything is assembled, we proceed directly to the process itself. First you need to unwind the dashboard. Yes, this is a dreary task, but without it in any way. Next you need to dismantle the arrows. Be warned, it's difficult. Especially on small sensors. The arrow can be removed as follows: put the device with the scale up. Then we grab the arrow with pliers and pull strongly up strictly vertically. Do not be afraid to bend the arrow, because it is no longer needed. It is important not to bend the stem here. Pulling out the stock is very difficult, because Soviet devices, as the legends say, can stop tanks.

A very important point! Everyone saw that on the speedometer scale there was a limiter in the region of 10 km. This means that the arrow has a down stroke. Therefore, in order for the new arrow to correctly signal the speed, some manipulations need to be carried out. We carefully examine the speedometer. Turning the arrow, you can see that a metal disk is rotating in the case, which is almost in contact with the stationary part. Let's remember the position of the arrow on the limiter, for this we simply put a mark on the disk and the fixed part with a pencil or marker. I mount a new arrow, combine these marks. Everything, the speedometer will work correctly.

Upgrading the dashboard further. We just unscrew the scales. There are no pitfalls here. Next, you need to solder current-limiting resistors to the LEDs. It is important to remember that the resistors are soldered to the plus of the diode (long leg). You can look for LEDs with a built-in resistor, but they are more expensive and less reliable, but they help save space, which is already very small.

Having bought ready-made instrument scales from Spirit, we have greatly simplified our task. It was decided to highlight the numbers on the scales and arrows. To highlight the numbers, we glued electrical tape on the back of the scales so that only the numbers were visible through the light. Red zones were also left on small appliances. The limit stop on the speedometer was made from a small carnation. For the correct location of the limiter, we simply combined the two scales and pinned our carnation in the right place.

For the arrows on the speedometer and tachometer scales, I had to drill larger holes. It is important that the new holes are smaller than the diameter of the base of the arrow, almost flush. We do the same with small devices.

Next, get rid of the filters on the dashboard and all sorts of indicator lights. The indicator pins are used to power the LEDs, and it is important to accurately determine the polarity. A multimeter will help here.

One LED was responsible for highlighting each digit, one or two icons, depending on the need, arrows - 4 pieces for large and 2 pieces for small ones. Another diode took the place of the fuel level indicator light. Two-digit numbers were illuminated by LEDs with a diameter of 5 mm, three-digit ones - 1 cm, since a larger diameter spot of light was required. The 3mm red diodes look perfect on the hands, and the brighter they are, the better.

The next step is to solder the LEDs. It is very important to solder them in parallel, not in series. We place them in the right positions and fix them with hot glue. LEDs can be powered from light bulb contacts that have been removed.

It is worth dwelling in more detail on the illumination of the arrows of the speedometer and tachometer. Red diodes are optimally fixed near the stem at the very base. It’s also a good idea to grind off the LED head so that it doesn’t interfere, or make grooves near the base of the stem with a soldering iron, in which you can drown the diodes a little. Thanks to this, it is possible to fit the arrow more tightly and the outline of the diode will not be noticeable when glowing.

The arrows of small instruments are a little easier to deal with. Thanks to the free space behind the scale, they can simply be placed there and oriented to the arrow.

It is very important to choose the right arrows. If they are too massive or long, then you will have to rack your brains on how to mount them. The arrow itself structurally consists of two parts: the arrow itself and the plastic insert. This helped not to bring down the readings in the process of disassembling the fawn panel. That is, if you remove the arrow, then due to the fact that the guide remains in the stock, returning the arrow back everything will work correctly.

Our task is to put the guide on the VAZ stock. The problem is that the stem is a little thinner than it needs to be. I think it is not necessary to describe the adaptation process in detail, because this will only confuse you. When you take it upon yourself, you will understand. Let's say that the big arrows stood up very well. True, the guides had to be shortened a little. I had a chance to tinker with small arrows because of the thin stem. This problem can be solved by soldering solder on the rod, bringing it, in the same way, to the desired thickness. And then - they cut the guide, installed it on the stem, put the arrow in place and you're done.

Everything and the dashboard is ready. Now we put everything in place and rebuild a little, including the dimensions. If necessary, adjust the position of the LEDs relative to the numbers. The process is a little tedious and ends when everything is perfect, or when you get tired of playing.

Finally, the last detail remains - you need to come up with podiums. We went the easy way - we just molded them from plasticine. The algorithm is simple: if there is a gap when the backlight is on, the podiums are “finished” in height. Here you need to make sure that the podiums are not too high and do not deform the scale.

Now everything is ready for sure. We put everything in place: we enjoy the new dashboard, we are proud of ourselves and the directness of our hands. Well, we catch the astonished glances of people from neighboring cars at traffic lights.

Thanks to the rich choice of such scales, it is possible, over time, to slightly change the design of the resulting dashboard. The pattern on such scales is identical, but they may differ in color when viewed through the light. But this is not a problem, if only numbers and a couple of stripes are left in the light.

A similar approach to changing the appearance can be applied to other devices. In the same way, for example, an additional tachometer from AutoGauge was changed. The problem with the device is a very nasty and poor backlight (one yellow light bulb).

More about resistors and LEDs. It will probably be superfluous to give technical explanations and calculations of the current-limiting resistor here: there are a lot of letters, but not everyone will understand. But the way out of this situation is quite simple: ask the seller on the market to select resistors to power 12 V diodes, or use online calculators, for example.

Perfection knows no bounds. After some time of driving with the new dashboard, the too bright light of the numbers began to hurt the eye. The solutions were simple. The LEDs were slightly shifted so that they seemed to stand between the numbers. In this simple way, we got a softer backlight. You can replace conventional diodes with matte coated diodes. But do not try to make ordinary diodes frosted yourself. Simply sanding the surface of the lens won't accomplish anything.

If we calculate the budget of our craft, it can show that the game is not worth the candle. Perhaps it is so, because about 50 conventional units had to be spent on LEDs, scales and other consumables. Although for such beauty it seems to be a bit.

This is just one of many ways to upgrade the tidy "seven". Perhaps it is not the most successful, correct, and cheap. But here the main result is the pleasure from the process itself and the final result. And most importantly, this is far from over.

To be honest, the interior heating system in the "seven" is pretty good and it will not let you freeze in the harsh Russian winter. But, since “ours” did it, it was not without problems. The problem is so ridiculous that it’s not even clear how “ours” could think of it! The point is this. Logically, the left branch pipe should be responsible for blowing warm air on the driver's glass. But after all, “ours” did it, which means you can forget about logic. As well as you can forget that the pipe will blow on the glass.

It seems nothing terrible, but with the onset of cold weather and fogging - it's just a guard. Not only do you have to constantly wield rags, but also open glass, which brings very dubious pleasure in frost. How to fix hello from the designers will be described below.

Ideas for finalizing the stove "seven"

Let's try to fix the design of the left branch pipe on our own. At the same time, in a very interesting way, without breaking or interfering with the design of the stove. And the most ordinary fan will help us with this.

So, remove the deflector from the nozzle. To do this, very carefully and just slightly pry it from the side with a screwdriver and take it out. We carry out similar actions with the other side. That's it, we removed the deflector. Removing it from the torpedo is simple - put your hand into the hole and easily take it out. Next, you need to find two ordinary coolers from a computer with a diameter of 50 mm. It's okay that the coolers are slightly larger in diameter than the deflector. They fit perfectly on the nozzle seats.

We mark the dimensions of the cooler on the deflector body. Using a hacksaw or a clerical knife, carefully cut the plastic case according to the drawn template. Cut off plastic is not thrown away. Now insert the cooler into the cut hole. It is very important that the fan sits very tightly in the hole made, otherwise it will rumble, and why do we need extra noise (it is already enough). Then we return to the place the inner part of the deflector with the blades. Unfortunately, when turning, they interfere with the rotation of the cooler a little. Cut off all excess from the blades and holder. Here you need to be very careful, because the blades are very fragile.

We collect everything together, check the rotation of the fan. The design was tested using two fans - from the processor and from the hard drive (the fan from the processor will be more powerful, but both do an excellent job). The main goal is to make the fan blow into the cabin, and not vice versa. Therefore, we need to make everything airtight. And then we remember the cut off plastic: we simply glue it with sealant on all the rear holes.

Connection and setup

Finally, you need to connect everything to the car's on-board network. This is a pretty simple step. It will be correct to hook the fan to the power wire of the stove. You can also take care of a separate cooler power button. But if this is not possible, then we simply use the stove button. It is very important not to forget about shunt diodes in the cooler circuit. If you do not put diodes, then the stove will only work at one speed. The reverse voltage of the diodes is from 12 volts or more.

As has been noted more than once above, design is not the strongest side of the VAZ G7. And the bumper - so, in general, is no good. In addition to what looks wretched, it still does not fulfill its direct duties - protection in a collision.

In fact, the VAZ 2107 bumper is plastic reinforced with a chrome trim. Therefore, what kind of protective properties can we talk about? Let's try to fix this bug. The essence and purpose of tuning the bumper is to increase reliability.

To increase the rigidity of the structure, we will use an L-shaped metal profile and push the body protection forward. Let's get started. First, remove the front and rear bumpers. We built the modernization process in such a way that no additional holes in the body need to be made. Holes need to be made only in the protective profile.

Next, we make connectors by bending the bottom plate of the intended fastening forward. Get the lower bumper bolt. The plates are easy to bend, but everything must be done carefully, because the final result depends on it. After that, we fasten our profile to strengthen the structure and attach the bumper itself to it. We got a large bumper that will withstand simple blows. And also the gap between the body and the bumper became a little larger, which gave the appearance a certain zest.

If you are not afraid of painting work and are good at transferring your thoughts to drawings, then you can build a bumper yourself. First, we design the future bumper in detail, thinking through every little thing. Next, remove the bumper from the car, wash it well, degrease and dry it.

We are making a blank for the future bumper based on the stock one. We fill the contours of the workpiece with mounting foam (be prepared for the fact that a lot of foam will go away) and additionally strengthen it with metal or wire.

The foam needs about three days to dry. After complete drying, we move on. We combine the sketch and the workpiece, remove the excess foam. We cover the workpiece with epoxy and fiberglass. For better impregnation of fiberglass, epoxy resin can be diluted with a solvent. We give the structure to dry and putty (in one layer).

We apply all the necessary cuts (on fog lights, etc.). Then we grind with sandpaper with a grain of no more than 80. We prime the sanded structure in 2-3 layers and paint it.

After complete drying, we mount the bumper on the car.

Useful advice: when doing such work, haste is the main enemy. It is very important to wait for the product to dry completely before moving from one stage of work to another.

The most common way to change the appearance of not only the "seven", but also another car is headlight tuning. As they say, people who are engaged in car tuning - anyone who wants to easily and quickly make their car original should tune the headlights on their car. In principle, on the VAZ 2107 this procedure can be performed in two ways.

The easiest, but most expensive, is to supply ready-made optics from other cars, or buy special kits that are not made in stock format (fortunately, the choice on the market is wide). By going this way, you can greatly transform the exterior of the car, and if you add foglights, in general, you can get a completely different car.

Another way is more suitable for people who are used to doing everything with their own hands and counting money. We are talking about the replacement and modernization of some elements of native headlights. The easiest option is to replace standard incandescent bulbs with xenon. It is also worth thinking about and choosing a new reflector with a higher reflection coefficient, put another glass with a better transmission capacity and dispersion coefficient.

The “sevens” with various decorative elements on the headlights have become very popular on the streets. You can safely glue special stickers, rims and other decorations on the headlights. You can achieve the desired effect by such actions, while saving a lot of money.

Another interesting headlight tuning idea. We remove the glass of the headlight, with a file, a drill and self-tapping screws, in place of the native orange diffuser, we attach the diffuser from the additional reversing lamp "OKI". Glue the glass to the sealant. Such a simple trick will help to transform the exterior of the car in a very interesting way. You can do the same with the headlights of the VAZ 2106.

Thanks to the design of the radiator grill, the VAZ "seven" in Soviet times was dubbed the "domestic Mercedes". Let's see how you can independently give the grille a memorable and original appearance. What we need: two native grills, a grinder, a soldering iron, a sober head, some free time. You may also need paint, but this is if the color does not fit.

Experience has shown that it is better and more reliable to solder the grille, rather than using glue. Let's get started. Cut out the logo of the plant and dismantle the vertical strips through one (we will leave only 4 out of 9 possible). You should not worry about the rigidity of the structure, everything will hold tight.

We take the second lattice. From it we remove five horizontal planks and four more small pieces. We need them to close up the place of the logo. Then solder them to the right place. We clean the traces of soldering and other irregularities with sandpaper. And, the final touch, paint everything in the desired color. As a result, we get the original grille without the manufacturer's logo.

But that's not all. For an even greater effect, solder large planks into large gaps in our custom grille, making the necessary cutouts in advance. Now here's the finish line.

Here is an example of a real suspension tuning on a VAZ 2107. It is worth noting that the suspension comes without a decrease in ground clearance - therefore it is ideal for everyday use. At the same time, on the new suspension, the car became a little stiffer, but controllability increased significantly without loss of comfort.

Front springs

For the front suspension, you can leave native springs. And also a good option would be to put Sirius, but without understatement. Due to the lower stiffness of the front springs, the rigidity of the rear is not felt as much.

Rear springs

Riding on stock rear springs on the "seven" does not stand up to criticism. Due to insufficient rigidity, having loaded the rear, you can hear a nasty cut off the friction of the rear wheels on the fender liner and this increases the risk of catching a bump on the road with a pallet.

A good solution would be to put the rear springs VAZ 2121 (Niva). Due to the increased rigidity, the car behaves adequately at high speeds on the highway and easily copes with the load even on very bad roads.

Front and rear shock absorbers

A good option is a shock absorber from Plaza Sport (yellow). For residents of regions with severe winters - Plaza Arktik. On these shock absorbers, the car keeps the roadway well even at 160 km / h. But do not put shower rubber. Due to the relative stiffness of these tires and the overall stiffness of the suspension, ride comfort can suffer.

Often, if the conversation turns to tuning the dashboard in the "seven", then the first thing that comes to mind is the constriction of the seats. And also different dashboard modding looks very interesting, as we wrote above. But this is already simple and is considered child's play among fans of customization.

It is not easy to change the appearance of the dashboard on the VAZ "seven", but there are a lot of options. The latest trends in this direction are such that everyone is trying to place either an on-board computer or a very serious multimedia system with a large multimedia screen in the VAZ 2107. On such a screen, if an on-board computer is installed, additional information about the state of the car, indications of fastening passengers and the driver with seat belts, door opening signals, GPS data, multimedia content, and so on can be displayed.

It is clear that in order to cram all this into a stock dashboard, you need to seriously rework it, and this will cost a lot of money. In addition, if you really want to, you can transplant our "seven" dashboard, for example, from BMW. Here the main desire, and the craftsmen will do everything.

By and large, the process of tuning the classic VAZ "seven" is no different from the improvements of other representatives of the line of classic models from AvtoVAZ. Regardless of the car model from Togliatti masters, tuning can take place in a similar way:

  • engine upgrade;
  • carburetor setting;
  • interior customization;
  • exterior tuning;
  • fixing engineering bugs.

For the VAZ 2107, upgrading the engine is a very costly business that is unlikely to be done by yourself in the garage. To successfully upgrade an engine, you need not only tools, but also serious experience in such work. The most popular tuning of the "seven" engine is cylinder boring to increase the engine size. In addition, an increase in the volume of the engine will not entail an increase in transport tax payments, since the VAZ 2107 stock engine will appear in the vehicle passport. In our opinion, the easiest and best way to make your "seven" go faster and more fun is to properly rebuild the carburetor using the selection of jets. When installing carburetors from Weber or Ozone, it is better to use a combination of jets 135/172 and 162/190 for the primary and secondary chambers, respectively. So, for little money you can get a very decent result.

Tuning the interior of this car model is a very extensive topic and a paradise for a flight of fancy. You can start by replacing armchairs and sofas (namely replacements, not constrictions), and finish by mounting a dashboard from a conditional Mercedes. Recently, dashboard tuning has been characterized by the presence of many different interesting solutions. Very often you can find projects where the dashboard is simply changed beyond recognition. It is worth noting that the enthusiasm for such panels is simply huge. It increases even more when you find out that everything is done by hand and with love...

The easiest way to embellish your "seven" on the outside is to work on the headlights. Tuning headlights is a very simple and effective solution. And you can also change the bumper and make a new grille. And finally, paint the car in unthinkable colors.

As for the flaws from the factory, there are a lot of them, because this is “our” car. But the most common solution is to refine the stove and strengthen the bumper.

The famous "six" - VAZ 2106 was produced for several decades in a row, and rightfully earned the title of "people's" car. Even today, the streets are still flooded with modifications of the sixth model Zhiguli - this car is time-tested, reliable and deservedly loved by its owners. One problem: it's outdated. It has not yet reached the gloss of a truly retro car, but it has not looked modern for a long time either. What to do? Get tuning!

In principle, the main differences between the various modifications of the "sixes" - in the engine and gearbox - respectively, and in the matter of tuning, it is necessary to build on these parts of the car. Among all the “sixth” Zhiguli, the most powerful engine, 54.5 kilowatts, was installed on the VAZ 21063 model - therefore, if you don’t have it yet, the first thing to do is install it.

Powerful engine already available? There are no limits to perfection, let's refine it! It is advisable to start finalizing the fiery engine of your “six” with a carburetor: usually it is “Ozone”, but Pekar or Solex will also be good.

Now let's pay attention to the ignition system: it also needs to be improved. First of all, it is necessary to install a contactless ignition system: we have harsh winters, and this option will provide your VAZ 2106 engine with a more confident start in the cold. Don't forget the spark plugs too! In addition, it is necessary to replace the existing silicone high-voltage wires with modern reliable shielded counterparts.

By the way, do not forget that during tuning your Zhiguli will have additional consumers of electricity, so you will need a more powerful generator, and the battery capacity must be at least 62 Ah.

With the engine managed - now it's up to the transmission. “Sixes” were produced for several decades in a row, and, accordingly, they started with a four-speed box, which later gave way to a more progressive five-speed transmission. What is your cost? If it’s a four-speed, replace it with a more modern five-speed analogue, especially if you plan to subsequently go to country roads, where fifth gear will save a lot of fuel and extend engine life. It's no secret that long-term operation at high speeds affects the condition of the engine in a far from good way!

Of course, speaking of tuning, we mean not only the external gloss and more progressive “stuffing” of the car, but also the comfort of the driver and passengers. What can be improved in the VAZ 2106 with your own hands? The hands of many car owners involved in tuning immediately reach for the steering wheel, in the desire to replace it with an attractive and fashionable sports analogue. When tuning the VAZ 2106, this is impractical: Lada does not have a hydraulic booster, and by installing a small-diameter sports steering wheel, you doom yourself to even greater steering effort than with a standard steering wheel.

It is better to deal with the heating system. In the sixth model of the Zhiguli, fogging of windows in cold or rain is far from uncommon, and two deflectors are catastrophically small. The way out of this situation may be different. You can install another “torpedo” (for example, suitable from the BMW E36), or you can be smart yourself and, having cut a few additional holes in the dashboard, bring air ducts to the side windows. However, we warn you right away: both of these options are not ideal, and can become an occasion for unpleasant communication with the traffic police during all kinds of inspections.

But replacing the regular Lada clock with an ammeter will not bring trouble, but it will be useful. An ammeter can be taken, for example, from the 469th UAZ, it will be powered by the glove compartment lighting wiring.

It doesn’t hurt to replace the seats either - now car seats for “sixes” are produced in Izhevsk, and they are very comfortable. However, chairs from the “seven” are also suitable - in the presence of a modern cover with pleasant “chips” - massage, heating, ventilation - the driver’s and front passenger’s seats will become especially comfortable.

By the way, about heating. As mentioned above, our winters are harsh, and the opportunity to sit in a thirty-degree frost in a warm car, immediately start up and drive to the envy of other drivers is priceless. So, he needs to take care of her in advance. For this, an engine heating system (any, for example, Webasto is suitable) and an autonomous interior heating installation are useful.
