  • The flushing process is more complex when there is deep clogging, when it is necessary to thoroughly clean both the inside and the outside of the unit. For this procedure, you will also need a set of Phillips screwdrivers in addition to the existing set.

Procedure

  • Everything is being dismantled throttle assembly. Since the unit is located behind the collector and in an easily accessible place, this procedure is not difficult. To do this, you need to remove the protective casing and unscrew several bolts and close the antifreeze and adsorber pipes (the liquid pipes are closed with hard plugs - most often with M13 bolts);
    After this, the gas pedal cable, which is attached directly to the assembly, must be dismantled;

Complete cleaning of the damper - how to do it?

For complete cleaning, in addition to the product and a set of tools, you will also need a gasket and an o-ring - it is better to replace them with new ones during the cleaning process. They are not expensive and are available at any auto store. It is very important to buy these parts specifically for your VAZ 2114 model, because they are different. To be safe, you must remove the terminals from your vehicle's battery before performing a complete cleaning.

In order to remove the damper, you need to use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew all the air pipes that come from the filter. Next, remove the throttle cable and unscrew the throttle assembly fasteners. Using a 13mm wrench, unscrew the two bolts that hold the damper in place. After removing it, carefully disconnect the electronic sensors located there and place them aside.

Deep washing method

The method requires a more thorough approach, a little experience in removing the damper and a richer arsenal for cleaning: a cloth with a WD head remains, plus a cross-head screwdriver, a throttle valve gasket (if the engine is 1.5 liters) and a receiver O-ring (if the engine is 1.5 liters). 1.6 l) - an inexpensive pleasure, on average 40 rubles, cotton swabs, a 13-socket wrench and 2 M13 bolts. The process is as follows:

  • All the hardest part is over, we move on to disconnecting the fasteners of the assembly itself, then disconnect the gas pedal cable and remove our assembly.
  • As soon as the assembly has been removed, we disassemble it: let's start with the IAC and TPS sensors.
  • They need to be washed thoroughly.
  • Then wash the damper on all sides, after washing, blow through all the holes so that everything is dry.
  • We assemble the assembly in exactly the opposite order and put it in place.

Remember the new gasket or ring? Well, they are needed because they cannot be cleaned, only for replacement. Don't forget to install these new spare parts according to the engine displacement.

Cleaning the idle speed sensor

It is very important to pay Special attention status of the idle speed sensor. Since it plays an important role in the throttle assembly, and if this sensor is faulty, then the engine will behave inappropriately, and you will sin on the throttle. But this is not even the worst thing - a malfunctioning sensor always means excessive voltage on the entire system of the car and its incorrect operation, which is dangerous, especially at a VAZ, where sometimes it is not possible to figure out what caused the problem.

  • Then use a cross-head to unscrew the sensor fasteners (if they are present, of course, if they are not, the IAC is sitting on the varnish and you cannot do without removing the entire assembly).
  • The sensor can now be pulled out and inspected - if it is all oily and covered with a layer of dirt - the VAZ 2114 throttle valve has long been in need of deep washing, just like it.
  • Take a WD-shku and spray it onto the needle of the cone with a spring, wipe off the corroded dirt with a cotton swab. Just like the entire assembly, you need to blow it out after washing and put it back in place dry.


  • Now check the distance from the sensor cone needle to the body - it should be 23 mm!

That, in principle, is all that concerns the process and reasons why you should clean the throttle valve. It is important to understand the fact that if after deep cleaning of the damper and sensors. The higher fourteenth still behaves badly, twitches and stalls at idle, then the problem is not in the throttle or in the sensors (most likely). Perhaps the wiring is loose.

Therefore, automakers recommend periodic cleaning of the unit from contamination every 25 thousand kilometers. We believe that this recommendation is completely justified in the conditions of Russian reality, the quality of fuel and the condition of the road surface.

Troubleshooting

Before taking any action, you need to check the VAZ 2114 throttle valve for possible problems.

Cleaning the throttle valve of a VAZ 2114

There are two cleaning methods:

  3. After removing the clamps, disconnect the hoses themselves. We disconnect the pipe from only one side and, for convenience, move it to the side.

  4. Now remove the throttle cable from the throttle drive selector.

  5. Turn off the power to the sensors.

  6. Take the 13mm head, unscrew the two bolts and remove the throttle assembly. Remove the old gasket.

  7. To treat contamination, you can use carburetor cleaner and a clean rag or rag. If the degree of contamination is very high, then you can use a toothbrush with hard bristles.
  8. Just before cleaning, disconnect the idle air control. Apply the product to the contaminated surface. Using progressive movements, remove carbon deposits from the metal surface. If you are not satisfied with the result, repeat the operation again until complete cleansing. It is very important to clean or blow out the channels that are in the product. A large amount of dirt accumulates there. It is most convenient to carry out purging using compressed air. To do this, you can use a regular car pump.
  9. If the sensor socket and the sensor are clogged, be sure to clean them too.
  10. Do not forget to carefully clean the junction of the throttle assembly and its internal cavity. To do this, apply some cleaning product to a rag. Distribute evenly on the inner walls of the parts. Take a brush and clean the problem areas. After finishing the treatment, wipe the cleaned areas with a damp cloth and remove any remaining dirt.
  11. After washing the unit, it is recommended to clean and blow out the disconnected pipes.
  12. We expect a short amount of time.
  13. We install a new gasket at the junction of the throttle assembly.
  14. We attach and secure the knot in place.
  15. We connect the IAC sensor.
  16. We pull the hoses onto the fittings of the cooling system and connections to the adsorber.
  17. We put on the throttle body pipe.
  18. We fix the cable on the drive.
  19. Tighten the clamps of all attached elements.
  20. We connect the sensor chips.
  21. Close the cap of the expansion tank with coolant.
  22. We start the car and test its operation.

The non-removal method is somewhat similar to the one we described earlier. The only difference is that we will only remove the air duct pipe and nothing else.
The work steps are as follows:
— Remove the pipe;
— We repeat point number 10 of the previous method.
— We connect and secure everything in the reverse order, not forgetting to replace the old gasket with a new one.

Keep in mind that this method is most suitable for preventative, light, superficial cleaning. If malfunctions or incorrect operation of the engine occur, use only the removal method.
Now we know how to clean the throttle valve on a VAZ 2114 using two different ways, quickly and without much difficulty.

7. Now you can proceed directly to cleaning the VAZ 2114 damper. Using carburetor cleaning fluid, you need to treat the assembly and all corresponding channels.

8. The next step is to unscrew the fasteners and remove the idle air control. If the regulator has minor contamination, it is necessary to treat it with a special compound. If the idle speed regulator has mechanical damage you need to replace it with a good one.

The same must be done with the gasket of the throttle assembly. In case of significant damage, the gasket is replaced with a new one.

9. After processing all the necessary components of the throttle assembly, we assemble the system in the reverse order.
